AMETHYST now recruiting in New Zealand!

We are delighted to be able to now welcome people from New Zealand onto the trial!

The AMETHYST trial has been recruiting participants across Australia since 2023. It recently obtained approval to begin recruiting participants from New Zealand too. This expansion was prompted by expressions of interest from potential participants, and clinicians supporting people who hear voices, in New Zealand. The community were keen to see the trial expand and to allow people living in New Zealand to benefit from the trial too. We hope this will now be realised.

The AMETHYST trial is a first of its kind! It has many unique points that the team are proud of, and this expansion adds to its pioneering approach.

1. Recruiting people who hear voices from across Australia and New Zealand.

2. Offering novel and effective therapies for hearing voices via telehealth to people across the two nations.

3. Encouraging self referrals from people who hear voices, and primarily using traditional and social media, and a "word of mouth" approach, to reach people. This is in contrast to the approach typically used in similar clinical trials where participants are primarily recruited through clinical services via clinician referral.
