We are delighted that our piece has just been published in The Conversation:
Hearing voices is common and can be distressing. Virtual reality might help us meet and ‘treat’ them (theconversation.com)
In this piece we outline how common the experience of hearing voices is. We also discuss what it is like to hear voices and different explanations for why people might hear voices. We outline the different treatments that can help those with distressing and persistent experiences of hearing voices.

Finally, we explain how the AMETHYST trial will build on existing evidence by trialling AVATAR therapy in Australia via telehealth. A case study is provided to outline how AVATAR therapy can work. We highlight that the AMETHYST trial will also test whether AVATAR therapy is more effective than the current standard therapy for hearing voices, and support scaling up these new treatments to be available more routinely across the country.
The AMETHYST trial is currently recruiting. For more information explore our About pages, and click here to Register Interest or Refer Someone.
